Gearing up for largest maritime exercise in the world PEARL HARBOR – Canadian sailors, soldiers, airmen and women from across the country have converged on to the Hawaiian Islands to participate in the largest maritime exercise in the world, RIMPAC 2010.
Exercise challenges Canadian, Allied fleets On the east coast of Canada, June 2010 will feature a moving feast of significant naval events for the Canadian Navy’s Atlantic fleet and its sailors. Starting with the annual Frontier Sentinel exercise off Norfolk, Va., and the Hampton Roads, it concludes with the International Fleet Review on June 29.
HMCS Fredericton concludes counter-piracy and counter-terrorism operations Today the Halifax-based frigate HMCS Fredericton completed her successful coalition deployment on Operation SAIPH, a counter-piracy and counter-terrorism mission. The ship and her crew of 240 personnel begin the 27-day transit back to their home port of Halifax, hoping to return in time to celebrate the centennial of the Canadian Navy on May 4.
